Last week it was announced that (exTiger lover) Rachel Uchitel would be joining the cast with a supposed addiction to pain pills and treatment for emotional issues. However, some speculate that Rachel's motives have nothing to do with rehabilitaion and everything to do with Dr. Drew himself! Watch out Mrs. Drew!!!
But get this, 'Celebrity Rehab' gets even more lame...
Yesterday Eric Roberts (Julia Roberts' older brother and father to Emma) also joined the cast...
So what exactly led Eric Roberts to shack up with other hot mess Z-listers for the latest installment of 'VH1's Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew?'
"Eric quit drugs and alcohol in 1995," the actor's wife, Eliza Roberts (an actress and casting director), tells E! News. "He has no interest in anything, other than MARIJUANA."
Eliza explains that her husband had previously tried prescription medications to treat anxiety, but they simply didn't agree with him, and so he turned to cannabis for a cure.
"He uses marijuana as a medication. He has a prescription," Eliza explains. "However, a dependency is a dependency and he doesn't want to be dependent on it anymore."
As for how Eric's daughter is reacting to all this, Eliza simply states that "everyone in the family is very supportive of each other and of each other being their best self and being healthy."
When the subject turns to his sis, Eliza says Julia and Eric do in fact keep in touch.
"There's a lot of love in that family. They all really care about each other."
A rep for the "Runaway Train" stars confirms to E! News that the actor has indeed checked into the Pasadena Recovery Center to shoot Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew. But downplays the severity of his addiction.
"It is NOT for any serious drug/substance, or prescription drug abuse problem," reads the statement. "Eric wishes to express his genuine thanks for the concern for his well being, and appreciates the support of his family, friends and fans."
Marijuana is a drug and can lead to abuse... but really?! Marijuana?! LAME!!!
